Reconstitution calculator

A bench calculator for a stock solution prepared from a vial of lyophilised peptide. Enter what the vial contains and the solvent added to it to get the concentration, the molarity and the volume to pipette for each aliquot.

Vial and solvent

Needed for the molar concentration.

Gives the volume to pipette and the number of aliquots.

Graduated barrel

A comma or a dot works as the decimal separator.

Enter the peptide in the vial and the solvent added to see the concentration.

How this is calculated

concentration = peptide in the vial ÷ solvent added

volume per aliquot = amount per aliquot ÷ concentration

aliquots = peptide in the vial ÷ amount per aliquot, whole aliquots only

peptide per graduation = concentration × one graduation

molar concentration = concentration ÷ molecular weight

Enter the figures above to see each step worked out with them.

Reading the result

  1. 01

Start from the label on your vial. Choosing a catalogue vial fills in its listed contents. If the label on your vial says otherwise, type what it says.

  2. 02

Enter the solvent volume you added. Every figure follows the solvent field, so change it if you added a different volume.

  3. 03

Choose a scale that fits the volume. The marker shows the volume per aliquot on the barrel you chose. A smaller barrel spreads the graduations further apart.

  4. 04

Store the dry material as its product page says. Each product page states how to store the lyophilised material.
